Join Us in Brooklyn for 3 End-Chickens-As-Kaporos Demos in October
Locations are the Brooklyn Neighborhoods of Midwood, Williamsburg & Crown Heights

The Alliance to End Chickens as Kaporos is hosting three peaceful 2-hour protest demonstrations the first week of October in Brooklyn, New York. Our purpose is to protest the cruel and needless “swinging” and slaughtering of thousands of chickens in Kaporos ceremonies during the week before Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement (Oct. 7-8, 2011). We’re urging observers to use money or other non-animal symbols of atonement instead of chickens. Kaporos observance does Not require any animals to be used. All three demos will be held on weekday evenings from 6-8pm.

Please join United Poultry Concerns president Karen Davis, AECK founding members Rina Deych and David Rosenfeld, UPC correspondent Ronnie Steinau, and other dedicated activists at one, two, or all three of these important demos. We need you with us to bear witness to the needless suffering we seek to end, and be counted for these birds. Here is the schedule:

Tuesday evening Oct 4: Ocean Parkway and Ave. P in Midwood from 6-8pm.

Wednesday evening Oct 5: Williamsburg from 6-8pm. Details to be announced.

Thursday evening Oct 6: 792 Eastern Parkway between Kingston & Albany Avenues in Crown Heights from 6-8pm.

Last year our rally and candlelight vigil brought lots of good media attention including the moving coverage we received in The Washington Post by Pulitzer Prizewinning photojournalist Carol Guzy.
