Kaporos Chicken Slaughter: “An Unholy Ritual,” New York Daily News
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to share with you Dr. Ethan Ciment’s excellent Op-Ed in the New York Daily News on Sept. 18, followed by New York City activist Rina Deych’s published Letter on Sept. 23, in response to Dr. Ciment’s op-ed, in which he condemns Kaporos and the City’s deference to the practitioners of this horrible, heartless, illegal, and unholy ritual. Rina Deych is a founding member of the Alliance to End Chickens as Kaporos, a project of United Poultry Concerns founded in 2010.

Update on
Kaporos Chicken Rescue Begins:
Please Donate to This Heroic Rescue Operation!
We are deeply grateful to our supporters who’ve generously enabled us to reach our goal of $6,500 this month, thus securing a generous matching donation of $6,500 for a total of $13,000 to care for the more than 300 rescued Kaporos chickens who will be transported to confirmed sanctuaries as soon as they are able to travel.
This year our rescue team reports that the chickens are in especially bad condition, “very unhealthy, emaciated, and injured.” An additional 50 chickens, beyond the original 300, are being rescued and cared for by Alliance caregivers and veterinarians.
Your help for these chickens is much needed and deeply appreciated.
